"Details of the budget deal between Legislative Leadership and Governor Brewer are disastrous for the future of Arizona's children. While the Governor protected some services for children - like KidsCare - the longterm consequences of the tax cuts, the flat tax, the tax repeals and possibly a TABOR would doom future state services for vulnerable children and families. As someone at the Capital observed this morning, the permanent elimination of these taxes creates a revenue hole the size of the Grand Canyon, from which the state will never recover.
There's not a lot of time to act as lawmakers intend to pass this budget as soon as possible. We must tell our legislators to stand firmly against this budget and force leaders to reconsider the reckless tax cuts."
