Child Care Cuts!

The latest information regarding DES cuts to child care are that the State will notify 10,000 parents that their child care will be stopped March 1st. This will impact 20,000 children. Cuts will include:
* All working families in Fee Levels 4, 5, 6
* Most working families in Fee Level 3 with income above 100% of the poverty level. e.g. a family of 3 making more than $9.31 per hour
* It is not clear whether "Transitional" (former TANF Cash Assistance recipients) will be affected

So far cuts will not be made to:
* CPS and Foster Care
* JOBS, TANF employed

A "Waiting List" is in place, denying help to 5,000 children

These cuts affect not only these children and their families but may result in job losses and closings at child care centers who provide care for these and many more children.

CALL Governor Jan Brewer NOW at 602-542-4331 or email and respectfully express your support for child care, that you oppose these cuts and suggest that all available Federal funds be used to minimize cuts to DES child care programs.
